Sewspire 2025 Challenge: It's in the BOX
You are Invited to Participate in the Sewspire 2025 Maker Challenge!
By Andrea Chapman
For years I have been wondering how to host a sustainable creative community challenge. Iā€™m eager to share the concept with you in this post and even more enthusiastic to take the challenge myself. The element of surprise is premium fuel for my creativity and is sure to keep me engaged while trying new things.
Continue reading to learn more about the challenge I have committed myself to in 2025 and learn how you can participate at a level that meets your needs and fits your budget.
Think of this like a blind bag for grown-ups! Imagine receiving a medium size box chockfull of sewing and crafting supplies that were excessive for someone else. Feel those neurons firing as you picture the possibilities. There is a sense of liberation and gratitude because these materials feel like a gift and in many ways they are. In addition, you'll be embraced by a whimsical curiosity as you connect vicariously with the person who curated this box for you and the universal wish for you to create something new from these materials which were sitting stagnant and prone to waste.
It's called the Craft Box Swap, and itā€™s designed to fulfill your desire to receive and give.
Let me unpack the craft box concept for you here from the perspective of the swapper and the solo participant.
Swapper Experience:
- Join Studio 365 and register for the swap using the link inside the community.
- Fill a medium flat rate box with supplies and tools of your choice and ship that to your assigned swapper.
- Look forward to receiving your own box of curated crafting goodness and commit to using the materials in the box within 30 days.
The Craft Box Swap is a monthly exchange between Sewspire Studio 365 members whereby participants fill a medium flat rate box with curated crafting supplies they no longer use. In turn they receive the same. Membership fees and shipping costs are under $40 per month in the United States. International participation is limited to the solo experience at this time due to the cost of shipping.
Solo Experience:
- Fill a medium size box with supplies and tools of your choice. Ideally all are from your existing stash but if you do buy something new you can toss that in too!
- Commit to using the materials within in the box in the next 30 days.
- Inspire others to join the challenge and generate some accountability on your part by sharing photos and videos of your personal curated CRAFT BOX with us on Instagram and Facebook using #craftboxswap.
Everyone can then tune in to the Sewspire YouTube to see what I pack in my swap or solo box, what I receive from another swapper and how I use the materials and tools enclosed in both boxes to create something new.
