You are either engaging with your craft or you are not.
Hi, I'm Andrea Chapman
Founder of SEWSPIRE
This is my Story
My journey as a bag maker started on eBay and at local craft fairs. I taught myself how to sew and bought $5,000 in fabric shortly thereafter to launch my first handmade business. In 2012, I expanded and opened a brick and mortar boutique which featured my goods and the handiwork of other talented makers. In 2016 I closed that to launch my YouTube Channel and focus on creating a community that is now known as Sewspire.
As part of my teaching process I devised and mastered a technique called the T-Method that anyone can use to unlock their design potential and start creating custom bags.
In addition to designing bags and accessories I also like to explore patterns created by other indie bag makers. Some of my favorites include Ora Rosa Patterns and Noodlehead Sewing Patterns. I'm also a novice garment maker and quilter; both pursuits bring me joy and keep me connected to the beginner's mindset which serves me well.
I am passionate about creativity because I believe it is the path to happiness and peace. When we create something from raw materials it brings a sense of accomplishment as well as beauty and function to the world.
